MINUTES OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

ASPEN HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION, INC.

18 May 2010

 

The meeting was called to order by the President Alexandra Minckler at 7:39 PM at the Aspen Hill Library.

 

Board Members Present:  Don Becker, Robert Clarke, Don Eimer, Marguerite Eimer, Rusty Embrey, Alexandra Minckler, Carol Petzold, David Polinsky, Linda Robbins, Bill Shelton and Patricia Walker.

 

Treasurer David Polinsky presented a written report indicating 69 family and 49 individual memberships. The expenses for the month amounted to $286. There was no income for the month. The current bank balance is $5090.30.

 

The meeting consisted of presentations by the following organizations/individuals:

 

District 19 State officials who summarized the successes and failures of the recently concluded state legislative session

á      Senator Mike Lenett

á      Delegate Roger Manno

á      Delegate Benjamin Kramer

 

County Council member Duchy TractenbergÕs Chief of Staff, Alan S. Bowser, who spoke about the CouncilÕs attempt to balance the budget in the current difficult financial circumstances.

 

The Montgomery County Humane Society representatives who spoke about their progress and plans for the Aspin Hill Pet Cemetery

á      Cris Bombaugh, President and CEO

á      Jo Ann Hoffman, Chair, Board of Directors

 

Thomas Pogue, Community Relations Director, The Montgomery County Department of Transportation who spoke about the Renew Montgomery program to restore infrastructure in older communities, in this case Wheaton Woods.

 

Officer Hidayat, Community Services Officer, 4th District, Montgomery County Police Department, who spoke about crime in the community and what citizens can do to better protect themselves and to help the police in confronting crime.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:51 PM.
