MINUTES
THE ASPEN HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION,
INC.
12 April 2010
The
meeting was called to order by President Alexandra Minckler at 7:34 P.M. at the
Aspen Hill Library.
Present
at the meeting were board members: Donald Becker, Robert Clarke, Don Eimer, Marguerite
Eimer, Rusty Embrey, Dwayne Holmes, Alexandra Minckler, Carol Petzold and David
Polinsky.
The
minutes of the February 2010 meeting were presented by the Recording Secretary,
Robert Clarke, corrected and approved. The item corrected was to change Christine
Innsbruck to Christine Ginsburg.
The
Treasurer, David Polinsky, reported no change in membership. As of this date the association has 69
family members and 49 single members for a total of 187 members. The balance in
the Treasury as of 12 April 2010 is $5176.36 after a $50 donation to facilitate
the 10 April 2010 Rock Creek Park Stream Clean Up.
Rusty
Embrey delivered 20 corrugated plastic signs to be used to inform the community
about future association meetings, and distributed them to board members for
placement during the week prior to the May 18th general meeting.
President
Minckler next discussed a proposed group of presenters for the May 18th
general meeting.

She
reported that no council members would be able to attend because they were
meeting the same evening.

Christine
Ginsburg of the Twinbrook Civic Association has been invited to attend to
inform the community about the County CouncilŐs decisions on the Twinbrook
sector plan.

Joann
Hoffman and Chris Bombaugh have been invited to inform the community about
developments at the Aspin Hill Pet Cemetery.
á
Presenters
on the Wheaton Woods Beautification/Renewal project will not be able to attend
but will drop off informative materials.

WSSC
will be invited to inform the community about the current water main project.
á
Captain
Demme, Fourth District Commander, will be invited to attend and present a crime
report.
á
Donald
Becker indicated he would have a poster size map of the region delineating the
borders of the Aspen Hill Civic AssociationŐs territory.
Donald
Becker informed the board that he will be updating the associationŐs website
and adding links to sites of community interest. Also to be placed on the site is a membership form that can
be downloaded. David Polinsky
requested that his address appear with the form so there would be no confusion
about where a completed form is to be sent.
The
spring newsletter was next discussed.
President Minckler said she would see to its printing and delivery to
David Polinsky who would arrange for its mailing and for an email blast about
the upcoming general meeting. President Minckler requested help from board
members in generating the text for the newsletter.
Dwayne
Holmes reported that the camera ready art work had just been received from
Linda Robbins and that he would undertake arranging the printing process for
delivery in about two weeks. Carol Petzold added that she would shortly deliver
precinct maps to President Minckler so the distribution of the cards by board
members could be arranged.
David
Polinsky inquired if he should arrange for board meeting space at the library
during the months of July and August when board meetings in the past often
lacked a quorum. Following
discussion, the board unanimously decided not to schedule meetings during July
and August.
Dwayne
Holmes requested that all intra-board email carry ÔAHCAŐ in its subject
line. It was agreed that this
should be the case.
The
meeting was adjourned at 8:38 PM.
The
next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 18 May 2010 at 7:30 PM at the Aspen Hill
Library.
