THE ASPEN HILL CIVIC
ASSOCIATION, INC.
21 March 2011
The meeting
was called to order by President Alexandra Minckler at 7:08 P.M. at the Aspen
Hill Library.
Present at
the meeting were board members: Don Becker, Robert Clarke, Rusty Embrey, Alexandra
Minckler, David Polinsky, Florence Polinsky, and Linda Robbins.
The minutes
of the February 2011 meeting were approved.
Treasurer David
Polinsky presented a financial report summarized as follows:
Balance
as of 23 February 2011: $5079.24
Income
from dues: $19.00
Expenditures:
$55.97 [Signs]
Balance
as of 21 March 2011: $5030.27
Mr. Polinsky
also reported the organization currently has a paid membership of 64 families
and 50 individuals.
Patricia
Walker, through Alexandra Minckler, recommended that citizens should make use
of the ALERT MONTGOMERY program in which the county government provides
information of an emergency or informative nature via a number of different

Marguerite Eimer, through Alexandra Minckler, reported that State
Senator Manno has proposed SB749 to require that
Pepco submits emergency power restoration plans. Following up on a motion at
the previous meeting, the board will send a letter to our state and county
political representatives in support of any action that enhances PepcoÕs
reliability.
Rusty Embrey
presented a flyer from the Aspen Hill Neighborhood Watch asking that information
about the Saturday March 26th Neighborhood Walk in search of code
violators be posted on our website. Don Becker was tasked to do so.
A discussion
next occurred regarding the effectiveness of the new 311 county phone system.
It apparently is not working well and examples were shared with the board. It was decided that President Minckler
would contact Tom Street representing our concerns, with further board action
possible at a later date depending on the outcome.
Alexandra
Minckler informed the board that she has acceded to a request by the Montgomery
County Humane Society to seek board input regarding their stewardship of the
Aspin Hill Pet Cemetery at the April board meeting.
Linda Robbins
volunteered to investigate printing costs and options for the boardÕs
informative flyer.
President
Minckler reported that the Lee Development Corporation has failed to respond to
requests for information regarding the vacant former Vitro/BAE and Super Fresh
properties.
The meeting
was adjourned at 8:17 P.M.
The board
will next meet on Wednesday April 13 at 7:00
PM.
