MINUTES

THE ASPEN HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION, INC.

21 March 2011

The meeting was called to order by President Alexandra Minckler at 7:08 P.M. at the Aspen Hill Library.

Present at the meeting were board members: Don Becker, Robert Clarke, Rusty Embrey, Alexandra Minckler, David Polinsky, Florence Polinsky, and Linda Robbins.

The minutes of the February 2011 meeting were approved.

Treasurer David Polinsky presented a financial report summarized as follows:

Balance as of 23 February 2011: $5079.24

Income from dues:  $19.00

Expenditures: $55.97 [Signs]

Balance as of 21 March 2011: $5030.27

Mr. Polinsky also reported the organization currently has a paid membership of 64 families and 50 individuals.

Patricia Walker, through Alexandra Minckler, recommended that citizens should make use of the ALERT MONTGOMERY program in which the county government provides information of an emergency or informative nature via a number of different media. See www.alert.montgomerycountymd.gov/ for more information or to participate. For police information about our area select the K-2 Beat.

Marguerite Eimer, through Alexandra Minckler, reported that State Senator Manno has proposed SB749 to require that Pepco submits emergency power restoration plans. Following up on a motion at the previous meeting, the board will send a letter to our state and county political representatives in support of any action that enhances PepcoÕs reliability.

Rusty Embrey presented a flyer from the Aspen Hill Neighborhood Watch asking that information about the Saturday March 26th Neighborhood Walk in search of code violators be posted on our website. Don Becker was tasked to do so.

A discussion next occurred regarding the effectiveness of the new 311 county phone system. It apparently is not working well and examples were shared with the board.  It was decided that President Minckler would contact Tom Street representing our concerns, with further board action possible at a later date depending on the outcome.

Alexandra Minckler informed the board that she has acceded to a request by the Montgomery County Humane Society to seek board input regarding their stewardship of the Aspin Hill Pet Cemetery at the April board meeting.

Linda Robbins volunteered to investigate printing costs and options for the boardÕs informative flyer.

President Minckler reported that the Lee Development Corporation has failed to respond to requests for information regarding the vacant former Vitro/BAE and Super Fresh properties.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:17 P.M.

The board will next meet on Wednesday April 13 at 7:00 PM.

Respectfully Submitted
